Violet Violent Sun
Three X-class flares in the last 2 days… the sun is seething with activity in this first light view captured in the violet end of the visible spectrum. I can see almost nothing visually at the CaK wavelength (my eyes are too poor in sensitivity) but the camera does not have this problem.

Our Active Star
The sun is killing me! Too many beautiful days with too much to photograph and too little time to finish the pictures. Here is the sun from May 4th, sporting a plethora of active regions, highlighted by the large sunspot group in AR1734 near the center.

Handsome sunspot region 1734… looking a little owlish in this orientation.
Sun Live
Live view from inside my observatory tent… can you find the 3 suns? Yellow (colorized) is the sun now - a live video feed in the process of being recorded. Background is an older image that serves as my desktop picture. On the keyboard is a pinhole projection of the sun cast through a small hole in my observing cloth. Great day to be a sun worshipper in Buffalo!!
